Carl Soderberg of Soderberg Construction has received the Business Friend of Education Award from the Maine School Boards Association for facilitating significant construction projects that have benefited Caribou Schools within RSU 39.
The award was presented by MSBA President Kim Bedard at the Maine School Management Association’s Annual Conference on Oct. 24.
The company provided heavy equipment, labor and materials for numerous projects.
Some examples of those projects include nature trails and lighting that opened up a large area developed into Nordic ski trails, snowshoe trails and walking paths used by students and residents.
The company purchased and donated a ski trail groomer and constructed a soccer practice field and an Alpine Ski Practice Hill. It provided all material and labor to construct a tennis court at Caribou High School.
Mr. Soderberg also was instrumental in saving the new Caribou Community School project when it came in over bid. He worked with the main builder and architects to lower the construction costs and as a subcontractor made significant concessions and financial sacrifices so the project could go on.
Soderberg Construction was nominated for this award by the RSU 39 School Board.
